Kayaking

Whitewater ParkThe Lock 32 White Water Park is a beautiful spot where paddlers of all ages come to learn to kayak!  The park was envisioned in 1996 by several local kayaking enthusiasts; their goal was to turn the bed of the Erie Canal spillway at Lock 32 into a white water playground.  After four years of hard work by a team of volunteers, the course opened for its first full season in 2000 and we have been teaching individuals to kayak ever since!

The park was designed to provide a controlled environment in which students can learn and a challenging place for experienced paddlers to practice.  The course features a set of squirt lines, two wave and two holes—and most importantly, a constant source of water every day!  Paddlers take advantage of this park to learn new moves and tricks, practice their skills, or just to get out and have some fun with friends on a summer evening.
