It’s that time of year again! GWC will be offering free paddling,
whitewater, flatwater demo’s and free 1 hour lessons to kick off the season
right with our annual party to open the Whitewater Park. Free paddling (for
people who have prior whitewater experience). Join our Kayaking Team,

Paul Twist, for a tour of our facility and of the lock itself!

Armond bassett Canoe & kayak race

The 7th Annual Armond Bassett Race is a points race for the New York
Marathon Canoe Racing Association. This year it will be a two-day
event, attracting paddlers to the Genesee River to compete in a 10-mile
marathon and a 3-mile recreational race.

Cycle the Erie Canal Tour
July 10 - 17, 2011
People of all ages from all over the country will be participating in
this 11th annual cycling tour, which makes a stop in the City of Rochester
at the GWC on July 11th. The Erie Canal Cycling tour is an 8-day,

Rochester River Challenge

The 15th Annual Rochester River Challenge is an inclusive community and
Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports event celebrating the sport of outrigger
canoeing. It is a full-day affair attracting paddlers to the Genesee River
to compete in 400m sprint races. Team up with family, friends, or co-workers
for this unique and fun day on the Genesee River! This event is run by
a local non-profit organization, Cape Ability Outrigger Ohana, which
specializes in providing outrigger canoeing opportunities for individuals of

Head of the Genesee Regatta

The Head of the Genesee Regatta is a two-day event offers rowing and
