The Lock 32 Whitewater Park Facility

The Building Has Arrived!

On Monday, March 23rd, the long-awaited building arrived at
Lock 32 Whitewater Park!  We are very excited to have an area that will provide classroom and office space, a private area for changing, and shelter this season.

This spring Kayak Director Andy Cook prepped the site to ready for the delivery of the building; check out some of the pictures below to see the progress made so far!

Spring Work Parties

Now that we have the building in place, we also have a long list of projects to work on prior to the season opener on Friday, May 1st.  Join us at one of our scheduled work parties this spring!

If you have hand tools (shovels, rakes, hedge trimmers, wheelbarrows) that you could bring along, it would be very helpful as we currently only have one set of everything at the Lock!

Thank you to our volunteers who participated in the Canal Clean Sweep!!

Many thanks to all who attended the first spring work parties of the season, as part of the Canal system's Canal Clean Sweep.  We had over 50 people at Lock 32 throughout the weekend and the progress made was significant! Special thanks to Paul Swartz and Steve Wheeler who brought along the Bobcat to fill in and level the trench, pathway, and grounds near the building. That was priceless!

Along with many GWC Members, Brownie Troup #213 also volunteered, picking up trash and working hard (along with their chaperones) spreading mulch along the course.
