Head of the Genesee Regatta

Date: Saturday & Sunday, October 10 & 11, 2009

The 21st anniversary of the Head of the Genesee Invitational Regatta will be held on the Genesee River as it winds through Genesee Valley Park.  The regatta has expanded in recent years to include two days of competition, featuring Scholastic, Open, and Masters events on Saturday and Collegiate teams on Sunday. The Regatta has been the headliner of the City of Rochester's River Romance Weekend and annually draws thousands of people to the banks of the Genesee. 

Spectators can watch the crews as they cross the finish line from the east side of Genesee Valley Park.  Competitors and staff only will be able to access the west side of the park at GWC.

Erie Canal Fire Cracker 500 Regatta

Location: Erie Canal in Brighton (between Winton Rd and Clinton Ave)

The new July 4th, 2009 Erie Canal Firecracker 500 Regatta expects to be an absolute blast! This unique event features 2 boat, 500 meter sprint racing.  Each entry launches once and competes in 4 - 500 meter races over 80 minutes.  The events have a bracket format to determine the champion and 4 runners-up positions finishing with 3-1 records.

The racing venue is immediately south (5 minute walk) from Meridian Park where in conjuncture with the Town of Brighton the racing day will be followed by live music by Rochester's own "SkyCoasters"
band (@8pm) and the usual dynamite fireworks display (@9:45pm).
